Signing up for ROOM is easy and starts you out free!
By signing up, you can create meetings in rooms/venues of your choice, while users without ROOM accounts can only join meetings to which they've been invited. The only requirement is that you have an email account where we can send your first sign-up (confirmation) email.
And although registration is free, you do not have to contend with ads or in-room purchases.
While you're trying ROOM out, you can also peruse our main website or our Help Center page, which is chock full of tutorial articles to help you ramp up like a pro!
You can sign up for the ROOM at http://room3d.com/.
It's as simple as clicking on the SIGN UP FOR FREE (or TRY NOW) button on our website's landing page. Shortly thereafter you'll then get a confirmation email and a link prompting you to try it out.
Here's the step-by-step process:
Clicking the SIGN UP FOR FREE button will take you to the page below, the Sign Up page, where you'll be asked to enter your email address and a password.
As soon as you enter your email address and a password, you will be immediately redirected* into the room and presented with the following popup prompting you to provide a name for your "virtual name tag" in the meeting (this keeps multiple people with the annoying default name "anonymous" from appearing in the meeting).
*NOTE: Although an email verification email will be sent to the address that you provided, you won't be asked to confirm email addresses for one full month, so you can jump right in and start exploring! Your default room will be the New York City room.
By clicking on the mic and camera just below your image, you can toggle (mute) your camera and mic on/off. displayed near the bottom of the name screen, while the Device Settings drop-down will enable you to choose something besides your default mic & camera (if you have alternate preferences).
As a first-time user, you'll find yourself inside an empty room, with a popup overlay prompting you to invite some guests. In a normal meeting joining as an invitee, a user typically sees all the participants gathered around a table (or on nearby seats) and a closeup of yourself in a circular cutout at the top of the screen.
Once you see the final pre-meeting popup asking you whether you'd like to invite some friends, you can certainly opt to "skip for now", if you just want to explore the room itself - although it will likely be a lonely experience! In subsequent meetings, if you are an account holder (even a limited-time Free free plan subscriber), you will be creating meetings through the Dashboard page (more on that, coming up below), which contains a filter-able selection of rooms, and associated info on which plans can access which rooms.
The last screen that will automatically appear before you start exploring will be a Hints overlay. You'll easily be able to pan the camera around the table by using your left/right keyboard arrows or by sliding your mouse left or right. Zooming in/out is done by using your mouse buttons.

Inviting Guests
We've included this short section on meeting invitations to save the reader from having to locate a specialized document from our tutorial library on this topic. The standard way of inviting guests takes place once you're inside your room - actually, two ways... both of which use the tools at the screen's bottom. The tools you see at the bottom are the same found in each room, irrespective of the specific room's layout, or device - desktop or mobile.
The first is by clicking on the "Copy Invitation Link" button, which will immediately prompt a success message to appear at the top of your screen, validating your action's success.
The second is by clicking on the "..." ("More" button) which will open a popup overlay like this, listing several more tools/commands from which you will select "Participants"...
... prompting the Participants' popup panel below to emerge, finally revealing the "Copy Link" button at its bottom. Please note that as a first time user, the screen would only list your name and display the number of available seats remaining to inform your meeting invitation activities.
The Participants panel's bottom part contains several methods by which you can share the link: Gmail, your default email client, or Facebook. You can also simply cops the link and paste it into your favorite texting app.
